An Early Vision of Star Wars: Ralph McQuarrie

December 17th, 2015  |  No Comments

We at Jivaldi have been huge fans of artists like Alan Lee and John Howard (Lord of the Rings) and the late Ralph McQuarrie. Their original visions for the worlds that they’ve been asked to create offer us a glimpse into how it all started. What’s fascinating to us is being able to go back and see Mr. McQuarries early work¬†nearly 40 years later and see how closely the Star Wars Universe has adhered to his original vision.

There is a lot that can be said about these artists but as a small tribute, we posted this icon of Darth Vader on Dribbble which had us using original concept art as a guide when we began sketching out Darth’s head.

Take a look at the art below and enjoy!
